Mr. Grauer began his legal career as Director of Business Affairs at Angel Records/EMI Classics/Virgin Classics/Guardian Records. After leaving Angel Records, Mr. Grauer was an associate at the New York entertainment law firm of Tavel, Thea & Baker, LLP. He was then an associate in the New York office of the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
Since 2002, Mr. Grauer has served as outside General Counsel for the Universal Republic Records distributed Rap and HipHop label, Cash Money Records, Inc. (home to Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne), its publishing entity, Money Mack Music, Inc., its book publishing entity Cash Money Content, LLC (which is distributed by Simon & Schuster) and its merchandise company, Cash Money Merchandise, Inc. (which is distributed by Bravado). Mr. Grauer oversees all of Cash Money’s legal transactional work including its distribution agreements with Universal and Simon & Schuster and its various sub-publishing agreements. In addition, he advises Cash Money on its investment and real estate interests and oversees Cash Money’s other outside attorneys and advisors. In addition, he oversees all legal matters for Cash Money’s principals, Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams.
Mr. Grauer also has a private entertainment law practice whose clients have included Artists – D-Aye, Kenny Mason, 7715, Rahli, Lil Bibby, NCognita, Train, Butch Walker, Gilby Clarke (Guns & Roses); producers – Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Bebe Winans, Avril Lavigne, Vanessa Carlton), Butch Walker (Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, The Donnas, Bowling For Soup, Midtown, Simple Plan, Pink, Tommy Lee), Rob Mathes (Vanessa Williams, Panic! In addition, Mr. Grauer served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer for Emery Development, LLC from 2004 - 2009. As such he negotiated Emery’s acquisition of properties in Baltimore City as well as its agreements with various financial partners and he oversees all of Emery’s outside counsel. His experience includes overseeing the acquisition of twenty city-owned properties in Baltimore; the negotiation with the City of Baltimore for Emery to be named “master developer” for a 2000-unit housing development in the Harlem Park section of West Baltimore; and the expansion of Emery’s business in Philadelphia and Atlanta. In 2009 he became a member of Julery Advisors, LLC.
In 2015, Mr. Grauer co-founded the M Motor Club, LLC.
Mr. Grauer received his Bachelor’s degree in English from Wesleyan University and his Juris Doctor degree from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University.
